We try to cultivate sunflower with one thing in mind, excellent Dove Hunting.
Unfortunately this year the sunflower crop did not make so we are beholding to the natural grain and Dove weed seed to draw in our dove. We cut access lanes and bird landing areas so the dove can land to feed.
Bring your retrieving dog if you got one and plenty of shells

The Smith Family takes great care in providing Habitat for the migrating Morning Dove. They go to these great lengths so that their clients have the best possible wing shooting in the state. The Smith Ranch sits smack dab in the middle of the Morning Dove's migration rout to south Texas and Mexico.
In fact, the sole reason this land was purchased years ago was the unbelievable dove hunting that goes in this special part of Texas.
The Smith ranch sits in a valley just one mile north of the Colorado river and is surrounded with hills that are covered with roost trees.
